The Division Street Palm

- Gave permission to transplant the tree from land controlled by TXDOT.
- Cleared massive debris, including concrete slabs, adjacent to trunk base to allow for excavation of the root ball.
- Provided traffic management, including closing the inside east bound lane of the Division Street overpass to TX Highway 360 for transplanting operations.
- Utilized on-site heavy equipment with a fork attachment to place The Division Street Palm in The Tree Place flatbed trailer for transport to Carrollton.

The Fort Worth District of the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) provided permission for the City of Carrollton, TX and The Tree Place to remove The Division Street Palm from the southwest corner of the the Division Street overpass to Texas Highway 360 in Arlington, Tx on December 11, 2009. Prior to December 11, 2009 TXDOT crews cleared the area around the tree of massive debris including concrete slabs to provide access to to the trunk base for the root ball excavation. On December 11, 2009 TXDOT closed the outer eastbound lane of the Division Street overpass to provide space for The Tree Place staff to position equipment for removal and the subsequent transport of the tree to a staging area for the tree to be loaded on a flatbed trailer. TXDOT also utilized one of their large loaders with a fork attachment to place the Division Street Palm in The Tree Place trailer for the move to Carrollton, TX.

The Division Street Palm was placed on the ground by Robert Hafkesbring of the Tree Place using a large, folding arm, fork lift. TXDOT had a fork lift on-side for the new overpass construction and assisted by carrying the tree to the Tree Place trailer for transportation to Carrollton.
