Offspring of the Division Street Palm

The Division Street Palm produced abundant fruit and seeds, over many years, while located near the Rainforest Pool in Carrollton, TX. When seeds dropped Carrollton lawn crews would often blow them into the adjacent flower beds. Many of these seeds would sprout producing seedling palm trees. After the loss of the Division Street Palm, I potted and cared for a number of these seedlings. Two of them grew into small California Palms. They were brought into my garage, where I have a heater, for the cold winter months. The seedlings eventually outgrew their shared pot and the day finally came when they had to be separated. I was very nervous on separation day fearing that my living tie with the Divisioin Street Palm would be hurt. Just like their predesessor, they survived the ordeal of separation and transplanting and are now taller and as tall as me! I am hoping that someday, one of these trees will be planted in the now empty spot formerly occupied by the Division Street Palm at the Carrollton, TX Rainforest Pool. In this way the legacy of the Division Street Palm will continue.
